Crikvenica is close to Rijeka and the Rijeka airport on Krk (approx. 20 km) and has good connections by bus from Zagreb or from the airport.
EXCURSIONS
ISLAND KOŠLJUN
The island of Krk along the southwest coast shows passers-by its beautiful little island of Košljun. However, despite its size, it is not that small at all, because on only 68,500 square meters it boasts more than 400 different plant species (which is more than the islands of Great Britain), of which 151 different types of mushrooms were registered on it. 65% of the island is covered by a rich forest, which is intended for peaceful walks, meditation, research, admiration and relaxation for visitors, as well as for the monks who live there, who live in the Franciscan monastery from the fifteenth century. Today, part of the monastery is used as a museum, where, among other things, they keep a collection of folk costumes and rare examples of Glagolitic manuscripts. There is also a legend about the origin of the island. They say that once there was no sea in that bay, but a field, which was owned by two brothers. One of them was blind. The brothers worked the land together, but when it was time to harvest and share the harvest, the blind brother was stolen. This made God angry, so he drowned the field in the sea, and only the property and the house of the blind brother remained. That property is today the island of Košljun.
